September Announcements

September 1st, 2024

Drop off and Pick up

Thank you so much for your assistance in making drop off and pick up run as efficiently and smoothly as possible. This is just a friendly reminder that if you would like to walk your child to the doors of Founders Hall or to their class, we ask that you please park in the parking lot and walk them in. Please do not leave your car unattended in the carline. It is also important that if you are dropping off lower school students, you must stay in the right lane as you come down the hill. The left lane is for middle school students only as they need to arrive earlier. At dismissal time, if you choose to park, walk up to the sidewalk, and pick up your child at the doors of Founders Hall. Please know that we will call you when possible, but will begin calling cars prior to calling those standing outside on the sidewalk. Carline is our first priority for pick up. We are doing our best to get students to and from class quickly and safely and appreciate your patience. Please have your tags in your windows available for us to easily read. This makes a huge difference and greatly speeds up our dismissal process. If you have heavily tinted windows, please roll down your passenger window to let us know who is in the car.

Welcome Mrs. Freeburger

Mrs. Jessica Freeburger is joining our team in the lower school office and assisting with administrative duties as a long-term substitute. We are thankful to have her. Please stop by and introduce yourself and say hello. If you are in need of assistance she can be reached at [email protected].

Domino’s Pizza & Mission BBQ

Domino’s Pizza is back again on Fridays and Mission BBQ on Wednesdays. Pizza will be ordered by the month, and it will cost $1.50 per slice. Mission BBQ is also ordered by the month and costs $10 per order. The order forms for each month will be sent home in advance and please make note of due dates. We are unable to accept orders for the month after these dates. Exact cash payment is required as we will not be providing change. Payment can be given to classroom teachers or placed in the box in front of Mrs. Freeburger’s desk. Please be sure to place the money in an envelope labeled with your child’s name, teacher, and total cash amount enclosed. Orders for September are due on Tuesday, September 3.

Lower School Photo Day – Say Cheese!

Lower School Picture Day will take place on Tuesday, September 17. Students in grades K-5 should arrive in dress uniform on photo day. Information about dress uniform can be found here. We will have some uniform items available on picture day for those patiently waiting for their uniform order to arrive. Please, no shorts for photo day! You are welcome to stop by campus to peruse the uniform closet. There are still many uniform pieces looking for a good home. 3K and 4K students are welcome to dress as they are most comfortable. If you do choose to have your PreK student dress in their finest for photos, you are welcome to send in a change of clothes if needed. Each grade will be assigned a picture time during the day for their individual photos. Teachers will be available to help students look their best. We will be taking class photos as well. Order forms will be sent home soon.

Lower School Clubs

Lower School Clubs begin the week of September 16. We were excited to introduce some new club ideas this fall. Club information was sent home last week in backpacks. If you are picking your child up from clubs at 4:30, please pull up in front of Founders Hall. The class instructor will walk your child out to you. Club students that attend aftercare will be walked to aftercare following their club at 4:30. If dismissal plans change for your child due to the club, please notify Mrs. Freeburger and your child’s teacher. If you have any questions about sign up or payment, please contact Mrs. Freeburger at [email protected].

Parent Contact Week

During the week of September 23, you will receive a phone call from your child’s teacher. This is an opportunity for the teacher to touch base and communicate about the first few weeks of school. Please be sure to ask questions, raise concerns, and share positives from the first few weeks of school. Teachers are looking forward to connecting with you for a brief update at the midpoint of the quarter.

Lower School Leadership for September

This month we are focusing on the importance of friendship and inclusion. We kicked off our first K-5 assembly, with the help of our fifth graders, talking about how leaders can show friendship and include everyone. Students listened to the story; You Can Be a Good Friend No Matter What. Our fifth graders will take the lead on our monthly assemblies beginning at the end of September.

Middle School Buddies

Making cross-divisional connections is an important part of our school culture. We are excited to bring together our middle school and lower school students through our buddy program again this year. Our lower school students in grades K through fourth grade meet with their middle school buddies for the first time on September 9, when they will participate in a ‘Get to Know You’ activity. Our fifth graders will be the buddies for our 3K and 4K students. Buddies will meet once a month to engage in a variety of activities and build connections.

Book Break

We are excited to join in the excitement of Book Break this year. This program brings well-know, bestselling children’s book authors and illustrators straight to our classrooms. Students will experience live sessions with authors such as Stuart Gibbs, Matt Tavares, Mary Pope Osborne, Adam Rubin, and several more to learn about their journey as an author. Our K-3 students will experience their first author visit this month with Shannon Hale & LeUyen Pham, while students in grades 4 and 5 will meet Stuart Gibbs. We are looking forward to sharing this opportunity with our students.
