BIOGRAPHY
Danyelle Solomon is Director of AI and Racial Equity Policy at Microsoft where she leads the company’s policy efforts on AI and racial equity . Prior to joining Microsoft, Danyelle served as Vice President of Race & Ethnicity policy at the Center for American Progress from 2015-2020. In that role, her work focused on structural reforms to reduce racial and ethnic disparities across our economic, social, and civic systems. Her work was largely focused on the racial wealth gap, voting rights, and criminal justice reform. Prior to joining the Center for American Progress, she served as policy counsel at the Brennan Center for Justice. Solomon also served as legislative counsel at the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy within the Office of Legislative Affairs and also served as counsel to Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin (D-MD), former chairman of the Senate Judiciary Terrorism and Homeland Security Subcommittee, where she was responsible for a wide array of policy issues, including sentencing reform, juvenile justice reform, civil rights, and executive branch nominations; she also served as the principal counsel to Sen. Cardin during the U.S. Supreme Court confirmation hearings of Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. Solomon has offered expert commentary in numerous outlets including the New York Times, Washington Post, Time, and NPR. She has also published numerous publications, including “Stimulating How Large Policy Proposals Affect the Black-White Wealth Gap” in the Journal of Economics, Race and Policy. Solomon obtained her J.D. from the Pennsylvania State University and graduated from the University of Miami with a B.A. in political science. |
